Network World - Voltaire, a provider of Infiniband and Ethernet data center switching fabrics, this week announced a software license and development agreement with OEM customer IBM.

Under the terms of the agreement, Voltaire will license selected software to IBM. The actual software was not disclosed, but Voltaire makes fabric management and application acceleration software for both Infinband and Ethernet data centers.

Subject to IBM achieving milestones and acceptance criteria, Voltaire expects to receive license fees and non-recurring engineering fees totaling $17 million through 2012, the majority of which Voltaire expects to receive in 2011. Voltaire says it is entitled to receive ongoing support fees based on sales volume following the completion of integration and commercial roll-out.

Voltaire signed an agreement on Nov. 29 to be acquired by competitor Mellanox Technologies. The acquisition is subject to approval by Voltaire's shareholder and other conditions.

In addition to IBM, Voltaire also has an OEM agreement with HP.
