Quiet weekend, with WWE off the road until Sunday, when they start a heavy week of house shows before giving their crews off for New Year's weekend. Some interesting lineups, with WWE using battle royals to set up challengers to the Intercontinental and U.S. Championships, Michael Cole working as a special referee, Roddy Piper returning to Madison Square Garden, CM Punk appearing on a Smackdown show, Steel Cage main events and more.
The Smackdown crew runs on Sunday, December 26th, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois with a 5pm start time. Advertising for the show lists the Undertaker as appearing, but I doubt that will be the case. I believe the arena is just using a list of the current Smackdown roster for their website.
The Smackdown crew then has a Monday house show on December 27th at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with the following lineup:
- World Champion Edge vs. Kane vs. Big Show in a Steel Cage.
- Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio.
- 12-Man Battle Royal with the winner facing Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler.
- Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes, Ezekiel, Chris Masters, Drew McIntyre and Kelly Kelly are also listed as appearing.
Smackdown tapes on Tuesday, December 28th at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York. The advertised main event is Edge & Rey Mysterio vs. Kane & Alberto Del Rio, with Big Show as the referee.
