Grammy-nominated US soul singer Teena Marie has passed away at her California home aged 54, her manager has confirmed.
Marie - born Mary Christine Brockert - was a rare white artist signed to the famous Motown record label in the late 1970s, and worked with funk singer Rick James on various hits.
She also earned four Grammy nominations for her work.
Her publicist and manager Mike Gardner confirmed her death, saying that she had died in her sleep and was discovered by her daughter.
