There is concern that John Cena may have suffered a knee injury during a Raw house show in Wilkes Barre, PA. Cena apparently injured his knee taking the Wasteland finisher from Wade Barrett. They quickly went to a finish with Cena winning with some sort of submission when the planned finish was an Attitude Adjustment off the ropes.

Cena, who was having problems putting weight on his leg after the match told the audience that if he needed to "time off after tonight", he would, but he wasn't being carried out and then left under his own power, limping.

We are working to confirm the severity of the injury.

More fans have wrote in from tonight's RAW live event in Wilkes-Barre, PA where John Cena may have been injured after taking Wade Barrett's Wasteland finisher in the steel cage main event.

John and Randy note that after Barrett hit his finisher, the match stopped. WWE trainers came down to the ring and were talking with Barrett and Cena. Cena threw a submission on Barrett out of nowhere and the match ended.

Barrett then left for the back immediately. Cena was brought a microphone. He said he got a little beat up tonight and if he needs to take time off, he will, but said he will not be carried from the ring.

The fans in attendance note that one of Cena's legs appeared to be injured. Stay tuned for more updates.

As much as I dont like Cena I don't like this cause I don't want anyone to get hurt plus I want the chance to boo the hell out of him at Wrestlemania :( But nah I dont want anyone to get injured no matter who they are how much I cant stand them or any of that.

Yeah, hopefully it's nothing series because if it is, and if it's long term, that's really gonna screw up their plans going into WrestleMania. Although point though... why is Barrett still appearing at house shows? Kind of screws up the continuity a bit, don't ya think?

To update the earlier John Cena reports, every fan who has written in that was at the RAW live event last night says the injury appeared to be legitimate.

We now know more details on the match before it ended. After the Wasteland where Cena appeared to have been injured, Barrett began climbing the cage to escape but stopped as if he were waiting for Cena to come stop him. Cena used the ropes to get up as Barrett pretended to have his leg stuck in the cage wall. Barrett's motions were described as slow motion as he waited for Cena.

As Barrett was on the cage, WWE trainers came down from backstage and were yelling into the ring. Barrett came down and Cena countered a punch with a quick submission for the tapout. One fan said Barrett tapped out immediately and didn't even last two seconds in the hold.

While Cena did cut a promo and thank fans for coming and mentioning that he might need time off but would walk out on his own two feet, it's said by the fans in attendance that he could not put any weight on his leg.

If Cena's knee is to the point where he'll be out for an extended period of time, you'll not only see the return of HHH, but Lesnar's price just doubled (haha).

If this is true, HHH and Taker will be back sooner than planned.

- One of the reports around John Cena's injury is saying that he suffered a deep bruise and the injury is not as serious as first feared. There is no official word from WWE on this yet.

Could Barrett not have done that at TLC for crying out loud? Talk about too little too late, bad timing from the big man(!)

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross wrote on his twitter account that John Cena suffered a hip pointer during his match against Wade Barrett in Wilkes Barre, PA last night.

A hip pointer is deep bruising of the pelvic bone and muscle from a hard blow to that area. The injury can also cause internal bleeding within the abdominal muscles.

It's going to take Cena some time before he'll be able to do any physical activity again as even breathing hard or laughing is going to cause him some pretty severe pain.

Jim Ross described Cena's condition as "day to day."

The initial concern for the injury was a knee tear, so while this is still extremely painful, it's not something that is expected to keep Cena out of performing for months on end, nor something that will require surgery. It will, however, prevent Cena from performing in the ring for at least several weeks.

WWE
posted the following on their website:

Last night in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., John Cena suffered a hip injury. His return to action will be evaluated on a day to day basis.

That's awful, I hate for anyone to get injured. Anyway, it's also bad because Punk had a great feud going with Cena and now it doesn't make any sense to have him lead Nexus if Cena's gone.

hope its not serious but im glad this will keep him out of the ring and hopefully off the mic for a few weeks at least.

Not nice to see anyone injured obviously but it's quite ironic with how WWE completely ballsed up the "fired" angle, seemingly too scared to keep him off TV.

Every cloud has a silver lining, the new Punk led Nexus can claim revenge/victory over Cena for a while and actually start being dominant again for a few weeks at least.

If he's gonna be out for several weeks, WWE will no doubt just do some sort of a 'backstage beatdown' angle, run him down with a car or some b.s. like that, which will give him time to get well.
