Johnny Depp has said that he doesn't regret starring in The Tourist.

The thriller, which sees Depp star opposite Angelina Jolie, opened to poor critical reviews and underperformed at the American box office upon its cinema release last month.

However, Depp told Entertainment Weekly that he wouldn't change anything about the film if he could go back and make it again.

"I'd do it exactly the same," he said. "I wanted to work with Angelina and I felt like I had a good handle on the character. It was not a character that I'd really played before."

Of The Tourist's poor financial performance, Depp added: "I don't know the main ingredient of success at the box office. I just feel that's not something I can do anything about."

Depp won a 'Best Actor (Musical or Comedy)' Golden Globe nomination for his performance in The Tourist, while his turn in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland also earned him recognition in the same category.

The 47-year-old can next be seen reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
