A man has been arrested by police after he broke into a shop in London's Regent Street and threatened to blow himself up.
He was detained following a four-hour stand-off with armed officers that brought a large part of the capital's centre to a standstill.
Teams of police were scrambled to an Accessorize store at 12.20am on Thursday following an emergency call and found the man barricaded inside, threatening to harm himself.
A cordon was immediately set up around the female fashion shop, which is close to Oxford Circus underground station, while police negotiators attempted to resolve the situation.
The man finally left the commercial property just after 5am before being searched and arrested.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called to a commercial premises in Regent Street shortly after 00.20am following an alarm activation. A man has now been detained and is currently in custody."
The cordon remains in place.
