If you thought you'd seen the last of Qui-Gon Jinn when he was burning to a crisp at the end of episode one, you're in luck. The character is returning via the animated Clone Wars series, and he's bringing his A-list voice with him. Liam Neeson has signed on to appear in the Jan 28th and Feb 11th episodes of the show, appearing as a ghostly vision to give Obi-Wan advice.

Neeson might be the biggest name attracted to the series yet, which has featured voice work from Seth Green, George Takei, Michael York, Ron Perlman, Clancy Brown, and Jon Favreau. So why exactly is he taking time out of his busy schedule to return to this universe for a role from a movie that was generally lambasted by fans?

Talking to EW, Neeson said he wanted to return to Star Wars because “these characters resonate…even after all these years.” He adds, “Growing up, my heroes were cowboys; they were strong and mysterious, and it seemed like they always rode off into the sunset. For kids today, Star Wars has that same kind of magic. I really wanted to be a part of that.”

I haven't seen the TV series yet, but I did watch the CLONE WARS movie, and I have to say despite its blocky animation style and annoying new apprentice character, the dialogue and plot were far more convincing and coherent than any of the new trilogy movies, despite the fact they starred actual human beings.

Nice to see Lucas is still screwing up the continuity. Yoda didn't tell Obi-Wan about being able to communicate with Qui-Gon until the end of Revenge of the Sith which took place AFTER Clone Wars. It pisses me off to no end to see him ruining the legacy by adding bullshit! -KeMo
