Most women need to take a test or see a doctor to know they're pregnant, but Carrie Underwood can find out by reading all about it at any newsstand.
The problem is that it just isn't true.
Husband Mike Fisher told QMI Agency in a text Sunday that Underwood is "100% not pregnant. She gets asked almost everyday but no kids here for a few years."
However, if you happen to be a reader of Star Magazine you couldn't be faulted for believing she's two months along. The glossy gossip rag states that the country music queen is going to have a baby in August.
"And come the summer, they'll have plenty of time for the August due date," the magazine says, "since the NHL finals end in June and she has only three performances scheduled."
It seems that while Star Magazine is a leading celebrity gossip magazine, it's knowledge of the NHL is left wanting. Mike Fisher's season will be finished long before June.
The source for the big news is an "insider."
Many entertainment and celebrity websites have already refuted the story, as has Underwood's management.
"Carrie is not pregnant," her rep told UsMagazine.com.
In fact, Underwood said she's holding off on babies -- at least for 2011.
"Everybody, like, is on this baby bandwagon, I don't know what the deal is," the singer told Us in December.
"But I would really like to figure out what it's like to be married first, and I know he would too."
Underwood wed Fisher, 30, last July at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga.
Since then, they've been spotted at a number of high-profile events, including the Grammy's.
The Star story also says that Fisher may one day get two minutes for clipping.
"Two (kids) is good," Underwood is quoted. "Three is fine. Four? Somebody's getting something done because we ain't having five!"
Fisher and Underwood have debunked many rumours in the short time they've been married.
Last August, for example, the National Enquirer headlines screamed that the couple was "at war" because Underwood refused to move to Ottawa and that the couple had a "screaming match" that ended "with Carrie in tears after locking herself in the bathroom."
Fisher has told friends, family and anyone who will listen that if you don't hear it from him, it isn't true.
The Feb. 7 issue of Star can be found at all reputable newsstands.
