While Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller updated fans on potential sequels to both Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street reboots, he didn't really mentioned any of the other projects they've been attacked to. This evening he answered a slew of Twitter followers who wanted better news on the long-gestured Monster Squad remake.
"Since a few people asked, 'Monster Squad' is being written and he hope to have a script in the next few weeks," he quite simply stated.
So while progress is dead on new Freddy and Jason movies, it sounds as if Paramount PIctures is still hoping to give the go ahead to their Rob Cohen-directed Monster Squad remake that is being penned by Mark and Brian Gunn.
The 1987 original, which Fred Dekker directed from a script he co-wrote with Shane Black, begins when Count Dracula adjourns to Earth, accompanied by Frankenstein's Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Gillman. The uglies are in search of a powerful amulet that will grant them power to rule the world. Our heroes - the Monster Squad are the only ones daring to stand in their way.
