In a sign of how much WWE thinks of the Intercontinental Title, the fact that Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio was a non-title match at Elimination Chamber was to be ignored during commentary and promotion of the match.

WWE had talked at one point of making it a title match and having Intercontinental Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. World Heavyweight Champion Edge at WrestleMania 27 but decided against it, with the feeling that it would be better for Del Rio to go into WrestleMania without a title.

Well, if the reason they did that was to confuse the hell out of everybody, they suceeded, because no one seemed to know whether the title was on the line or not.

And I think it's better to have Del Rio go into 'Mania without a title too, will make it a better payoff when he wins the title.
