Sabayon Linux 5.5 has only been available for a month now and a number of 'spins,' images with alternative desktops, are now being launched. Sabayon Linux 5.5 with E17, XFCE or LXDE is now available for those who prefer lighter weight desktop environments.

There is also a new release of the Sabayon Linux SpinBase/OpenVZ templates for virtualized environments and building your own flavour of Sabayon Linux.

Finally, the Sabayon 5.5 ServerBase is now available as well for those looking for a minimal server setup.

"The E17 'stable-releases-are-for-n00bs' Desktop Environment, the well known XFCE and LXDE environments, the SpinBase+OpenVZ template ready to be used in server deployments, and last but not least, ServerBase, a very minimal Sabayon release with a server-optimized Linux kernel," he explained.
