WWE.com has learned WWE Champion CM Punk is currently undergoing surgery on his knee in Pensacola, Fla.

Last night, after Ryback drove him through a table, The Straight Edge Superstar took a late night flight to Florida for an emergency consultation with Dr. James Andrews. A review of his condition resulted in the WWE Champion's immediate surgery today.

WWE updated a report this afternoon concerning CM Punk's "emergency" surgery. It now notes he had his knee scoped by Dr. James Andrews, who successfully trimmed a cartilage tear in Punk's knee.

WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com. "The surgery went smoothly and Punk is expected to make a full recovery.

Dave Meltzer of FW4Online.com is reporting that the "emergency" knee surgery WWE Champion CM Punk underwent today in Pensacola, FL is more serious than first thought he will not be wrestling in the main event of the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view as advertised.
