Forget dudes in unitards. WWE “diva” Eve Torres will aim for some pile-driving gender balance when WWE: Raw comes to Staples Center Friday (Jan. 18).
How long have you wanted to be a wrestler?
If you had told me ten years ago that I would be a WWE Diva, I wouldn’t have believed you. I have always had a passion for competition and performance. My background in gymnastics, martial arts, and dancing has translated very well
in the ring.
What will it take for female wrestlers to get their due?
It’s just a matter of time. Not everyone likes seeing a strong, buff guy, but everyone likes women. We compete just as hard as men do, and we can do the acting just as well.
Do you have a signature move?
The moonsault. I climb to the top rope and back flip onto my opponent. It’s very effective but can be risky if my opponent moves out of the way.
