WWE videogame producer THQ will officially dissolve as its studios, staff, licenses and properties were sold to at least five different entities via the bankruptcy auction today.
THQ employees were sent a letter via email informing them that if they were working on a property or for a studio that was not scheduled to be sold off this week, their employment would be coming to an end.
There is no word yet where the WWE license would end up. The license was not one of the properties auctioned off today. Contractually, THQ held the rights to the license through 2017.
The status of the license was not addressed in any of the documents filed by the court today and they were not mentioned in the aforementioned letter to THQ employees, which was signed by Brien Farrell, THQ CEO, and Jason Rubin, THQ's company president.
THQ was founded back in 1989.
Work was already underway on WWE '14 for release towards the end of 2013.
