We've been hearings rumors for a while now, but it appears that all of the appropriate papers have been signed and initialed and it can be said officially: Halle Berry will be back as Storm in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Just as he has with every other casting announcement, director Bryan Singer has returned to Twitter to reveal that the Oscar winning actress will be back as the white-haired, weather controlling mutant in the 2014 comic book movie. Wrote the filmmaker, "Couldn't be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen #DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal."
Berry joins an outstanding list of returning cast members, which also includes Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Shawn Ashmore (Ice Man), and Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) from the original trilogy and James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) from X-Men: First Class. Game of Thrones standout Peter Dinklage and The Intouchables star Omar Sy are also part of the cast, though the identity of their roles are unknown.
It was all the way back when McKellen and Stewart were announced as part of the cast that the rumors started flying saying that Berry would return as Storm, but nothing has been confirmed until today. James Marsden, who was rumored at the same time, is still very much a question mark, as is fan favorite Alan Cumming, who has said he would be happy to put on the blue makeup again to play Nightcrawler.
X-Men: Days of Future Past will begin production in the next few months and will be in theaters July 18, 2014.
