This is all developing as I write this, but WWE is working re-write massive parts of tonight's Raw as The Rock is not there as originally planned.
The word backstage is that he left for Los Angeles this morning. WWE sources indicate this caught the company completely off guard and there's a lot of heat on Rock at the moment.

This is not a planned angle to sell Rock being upset over losing the WWE title. He was worked into their plans going forward and there had been talk of shooting a major angle with Rock to begin building Wrestlemania 30, possibly an angle with Undertaker or Brock Lesnar (we've heard both discussed but mostly Lesnar) and all that is out the window now.

The original script for Raw was set to feature The Rock opening the show with a promo about losing the WWE title to John Cena.
The promo would have led to Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman confronting Rock and laying him out, setting the seeds for a future PPV bout between the two.

With Rock bolting home without notice, WWE is currently re-writing the show. It's "chaos backstage" according to one talent we've heard from.

PWT Reports:

Former WWE champion "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson will not be appearing on tonight's Raw from New Jersey, according to multiple reports.

Rock, who is the top star advertised for tonight's Raw the night after WrestleMania, reportedly left town to return home.

Rock tweeted to UFC president Dana White at 6:00 a.m. this morning following WrestleMania: "A helluva show. My tequila bottle awaits when I get home. Can't wait for #UFC159." The implication was Rock would be heading home after wrapping up business tonight on Raw, but it appears Rock left early.

Tonight on Raw, Rock was scheduled to end this chapter of his WWE run after dropping the WWE Title to John Cena at WrestleMania. According to F4WOnline, WWE scheduled a meeting about three hours before the start of Raw to re-write the show.

Caldwell's Analysis: First instinct says this is part of a storyline, but it's unlikely. Now, WWE might incorporate Rock's absence into the storyline follow-up on Cena's title victory, but that remains to be seen tonight on Raw.

BR Reports:

Well, it looks like the Rock has taken his ball and went home.

According to F4W Online (h/t ************.com), there is major panic backstage concerning an angle that was scheduled to start at Raw, leading to WrestleMania XXX—The Rock and Brock Lesnar.

However, it will not start tonight.

Word is that The Rock decided to go home following his match against John Cena at WrestleMania, leaving the writers awry without an alternative. As of this article, revisions are taking place, scrambling to provide a suitable second option.

Seemingly, The Rock was—or at least, should have been—aware of an angle of this magnitude. The feud between Rock and Lesnar for WrestleMania XXX is not a new concept, as it has been talked about for a considerable amount of time now.

Since The Rock is out, one may consider a couple of other options for Lesnar to feud with until the situation is cleared up.

Sheamus' involvement with The Shield is getting quite stale, and he has now become the new Ryback in regards to unsuccessfully trying to extinguish the dominance of the trio. Due to his aggressive style of wrestling, coupled with his size, Sheamus would be a good opponent for Lesnar. Even if it is for the purpose of putting Lesnar over until the issue concerning The Rock smooths out.

Ryback would be another good option to feud with Lesnar, especially leaving WrestleMania defying the odds of not being able to Shell Shock Mark Henry. The intensity of this feud would surpass expectations and would automatically put Ryback back in the main event scene. Similar to Sheamus, even if Ryback loses, it would be a good feud to see in throughout the next few months until WWE is ready to start his angle with The Rock.

UPDATED:
F4WOnline.com is reporting that the latest update on The Rock is that he suffered an injury during his match with John Cena last night. No other details were given, and the severity is not known.
