Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra hasn't officially hung up the gloves yet. Recently, Serra underwent surgery to fix an issue regarding his body.
"I had surgery to take out my 1st rib cause it & my collarbone were crushing a vein causing blood clots," Serra posted on Twitter. "6-8 week recovery than back on the mats."
Serra, who helps train UFC middleweight No. 1 contender Chris Weidman, has not fought since a 2010 loss to Chris Lytle. He is 11-7 in his career, incluing a 2007 TKO victory over Georges St-Pierre for the UFC championship.
Previously, Serra mentioned a possible "career-ending" match with Sean Sherk. Sherk has not fought since 2010, as well, and is a former UFC champion himself.
