On Monday’s RAW, WWE changed the Payback match between John Cena and Ryback from am ambulance match to a Three Stages of Hell match, which features: a Lumberjack Match, a Tables Match and an Ambulance Match. The reason that the change was made was because Vince McMahon wants to do something “epic” with John Cena, something that can be viewed as a memorable point in his career.
At this time the booking was not done to prolong the Ryback vs. Cena feud, but WWE creative doesn’t have much lined up as far as long term plans go for Cena.
