WWE all but confirmed Brock Lesnar vs. C.M. Punk for the Summerslam PPV in August following the conclusion of Monday's Raw.

Raw went off the air with Lesnar making a surprise return to give Punk an F5, then WWE tweeted: "Trending Worldwide for WWE Raw: Brock Lesnar (@BrockLesnar), #HereComesThePain, SummerSlam (@SummerSlam)."

WWE then re-tweeted a post on the Summerslam Twitter account: "Only 61 days, 19 hours until @WWE @SummerSlam at @StaplesCenter in Los Angeles! #AreYouReady?"

Punk vs. Lesnar has the intrigue of Paul Heyman's involvement as the central figure in the conflict between his "friend" and "client," respectively.

Heyman and Punk floated the idea of the match happening in past interviews, with WWE being disciplined to keep Punk and Lesnar away from each other on TV throughout this chapter of Lesnar's run.

Heyman talked about the differences between the two in a January interview, hinting at what was to come this summer.

"Punk always looks two goals ahead," Heyman said prior to the Royal Rumble PPV. "That’s the biggest difference between C.M. Punk and Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar looks at what’s directly in front of him and that’s the goal. Once he perfects that goal, conquers that goal, he’s ready to move on to the next goal. C.M. Punk has a long-range plan and has his eyes firmly set on what follows that, and therefore what leads to the next."

"Punk wants to work 365 days a year to be the best in the world and to carry the company. Brock Lesnar is a selective prize fighter that wants to wrestle or fight in the biggest possible money-drawing attractions, and against the opponents that are most likely that the audience will pay the most money to see. It’s a totally different mindset. Much different goals. Much different values.

"Punk reminds me of a lot of people. He has Rick Rude’s ability to feel the crowd. He has Steve Austin’s ability to change direction mid-stream, if he doesn’t like the way something is going. He has Brock Lesnar’s drive and ambition to be the absolute very best at what he does. He brings to the table the best of a lot of A-List people that I’ve worked with."
