During the opening segment of Raw, John Cena announced he will be undergoing surgery for a torn triceps and will be out of action for 4-6 months.
Cena noted that he knew for two weeks that he would need the surgery and that WWE initially wanted to yank the Summerslam main events so that he could have surgery, but he refused so that he could wrestle Daniel Bryan. I believe all of that to be true, based on the stories making the rounds over the weekend.
As we noted over the weekend, unlike a lot of other injuries that he's forced himself to come back from early, the belief is that Cena will actually take the time off to come back completely healthy.
The word backstage today was that the company is hoping he will be back by the 2014 Royal Rumble at the latest.
