His classmates called him a legend.

Really, he was just a 15-year-old kid who'd gone streaking during a timeout at his Huntsville, Ala., high school's football game, and become the star in a Vine video that went viral.

But just days later, all that was left was the legend. Christian Adamek hung himself on Oct. 2 and died two days later, shortly after police arrested him for his prank and the school district reportedly recommended that the court consider criminal charges, including public lewdness and indecent exposure.

Adamek hung himself a day after Sparkman High principal Michael Campbell appeared on a local new broadcast and warned of the "pretty serious consequences” of his stunt.

“Public lewdness and court consequences outside of school with the legal system, as well as the school consequences that the school system has set up," Campbell told WHNT.

It's unclear what school discipline or other consequences Adamek faced. The station has since removed the report from its website, but a video of the broadcast was posted to YouTube.

Adamek's mother, Angela, spoke at a memorial for her son, according to ryot.org, and offered this message to other teens:

“Remember to smile, don’t be afraid to do something goofy and remember the consequences of those actions, ask for help when you need it, ask for help if you think your friends need it if you don’t know what to do, be quirky, be happy, be smart.”
