“Ultimate Fighter 15” veterans Daron Cruickshank and Mike Rio will square off at UFC on Fox 10 in a lightweight bout.
The UFC announced the pairing Sunday afternoon. UFC on Fox 10 takes place at the United Center in Chicago on Jan. 25 and is headlined by a lightweight showdown pitting Benson Henderson against Josh Thomson. The evening’s main card will air on Fox. Cruckshank-Rio will be part of the preliminary bill, which airs on Fox Sports 1.
Cruickshank has posted a 1-2 record in 2013. Most recently, “The Detroit Superstar” was submitted by Adriano Martins at UFC Fight Night 32. Prior to that, he took a split decision over Yves Edwards at UFC on Fox 8. Cruickshank began the year with a unanimous decision defeat to John Makdessi at UFC 158.
Rio will attempt to halt a two-fight skid against Cruickshank. After tapping out John Cofer in his Octagon debut, “The Wolverine” has suffered back-to-back submission losses to Francisco Trinaldo and Tony Ferguson in his last two outings.
