- The UFC and FOX Sports broke out "Fight Flashback" recently, and you can see a replay of the program in the video above. It features the UFC 165 battle between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson for the light heavyweight title.
Included is the key moments in the five-round fight, along with comments from cageside coaches and backstage access. Jones was declared the winner via decision after 25 minutes of action.
Jones will meet Glover Teixeira this Saturday at UFC 172, and a win would set the table for a rematch with Gustafsson later this year.
- With Glover Teixeira on deck and Alexander Gustafsson waiting in the wings, Jon Jones appears over the notion of a move to the heavyweight division. The current UFC light heavyweight champion will meet Teixeira this Saturday at UFC 172 from Baltimore.
"I have no interest at this point (of competing at heavyweight)," said Jones, during a recent conference call. "There's a lot of talent to test myself against (at light heavyweight). People are interested in a rematch (with Gustafsson)."
Jones (19-1) has defeated the likes of Gustafsson, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida since winning the title from Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. He had previously stated that, at 27 years of age, a climb to the heavyweight division was only a matter of time due to his growth.
The champion at heavyweight, Cain Velasquez, was a junior college national champion at Iowa Central in Iowa, the same program that produced Jones - who also won a title at the school. Velasquez is currently recovering from surgery and is scheduled to meet Fabricio Werdum later this year.
- Wanderlei Silva is throwing down the "racist" card in his verbal battle with Chael Sonnen before the two finally lock horns inside the Octagon at UFC 175 this July. The pair recently completed filming on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3, which is airing on Fight Pass.
Silva found a screenshot from 2011 when Sonnen commented, "If they sell 100,000 tickets I hope they put them in a nice ball, turn them sideways and shove them straight up their (expletive). That's what they can do with the Brazilian crowd," in an interview while hyping his rematch with Anderson Silva.
The move by "The Axe Murderer" didn't seem to phase Sonnen much, as he retweeted the message for his followers on Twitter with the comment, "(Silva) would like to get his tweet out. He has no followers, so let's help him."
