Rob Van Dam won the Beat the Clock Challenge on Raw to become the #1 Contender to the Intercontinental Championship. Big E beat Ryback in the first match and Rob Van Dam beat Alberto Del Rio in the second match. Dolph Ziggler vs. Mark Henry ended with no winner in the final match, making RVD the winner.

Bad News Barrett will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Rob Van Dam at WWE Payback.
