WWE wrestlers and the WFCU Centre helped to smack down hunger earlier this week with a donation to the Downtown Mission’s food bank.

“Last year was witness to unprecedented growth in the demand for our programs and services,” said Mary-Jo Kovacs, food room supervisor from the Downtown Mission.

Once WWE found out that the shelves on the Downtown Mission’s Emergency Food Bank were empty, they sprung into action and organized a food drive along with Global Spectrum Facility Management.

WWE fans were given a discount on tickets for donations of items like cereal, peanut butter and tuna and the staff of the WFCU Centre collected non-perishable food items during Friday night’s WWE Summerslam event.

If you missed your chance to donate, the Downtown Mission says donations are always being accepted in person at 664 Victoria Avenue between 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday, and weekends and holidays from 10am until 2pm.
