One of the most discussed stories online during last week has been the idea that WWE Smackdown would be moving back to it's original day of the week, Thursdays, this fall on Syfy.
The source of the discussion has been photos fans have taken and posted on social media of WWE production trucks featuring the Thursday timeslot listing. The photos were recently taken as they feature the new WWE logo that the company is currently using for the WWE Network and will roll out Summerslam weekend as their new across the board, official logo.
During negotiations for a new TV deal, WWE had noted publicly they were willing to move Smackdown to another night, perhaps even airing the series live on Tuesdays.
When the new deal was signed with NBC Universal, the only comment on Smackdown potentially moving was that it "currently airs on Friday nights."
WWE launched Smackdown in 1999 as a Thursday night series on UPN, which later morphed into the CW Network. The series was later moved to Fridays, where it remained on MyNetworkTV until it ended it's run as a broadcast series before moving to Syfy in 2010.
SyFy has not yet announced their programming schedule for the new Fall season as of this writing.
