BThis week saw a decrease in the amount of wrestling from last week because of Wrestlemania even though that was two weeks ago. NXT featured footage from Wrestlemania AXXESS, the San Jose house show, and Wrestlemania. Ring of Honor featured matches from Super Card of Honor. Unfortunately, none of these matches qualified for this column. Both shows will return with qualifying matches next weekend.
Without the two shows this week to qualify, the totals were down 61 minutes from last week to 148 minutes. If you only include the five shows that aired on both weeks, the drop was only ten minutes, with most of that due to the 20 minute decrease from Impact.
Raw won the week with 56 minutes of wrestling, an increase of five minutes from last week. This was the third straight increase after the lowest three hour Raw total. Impact fell to second place with 32 minutes of wrestling, a drop of 20 minutes from last week. Smackdown moved back into third place with 29 minutes of wrestling. This broke a two week streak of 21 minutes of wrestling. Fourth place went to Main Event with 21 minutes of wrestling while Superstars finished in last place with 10 minutes of wrestling.
One of the things that I have been waiting to see happen is the drop below the six minute per match average for Superstars. Since the debut of Main Event, Superstars has been limited to two matches most weeks and usually no more than 13 minutes of wrestling a week. With this week’s 10 minute total, Superstars fell below 6 minutes. If there had been 11 minutes of wrestling this week, Superstars would have averaged exactly 6 minutes of wrestling per match.
This week saw the WWE total pass 29,000 minutes. Impact passed 7,300 minutes this week. There will be a number of barriers passed next week.
