While it may just be a coincidence, the first card in the era of the UFC’s ban on I.V. rehydration may has its first casualty. Hours before weigh-ins, former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks his withdrawn from tomorrow’s UFC 192 card in Houston, Texas, where he was scheduled to face Tyron Woodley. Dana White made the official announcement on Twitter:

MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani has the most details so far about what happened, explaining that Hendricks was rushed to an emergency room last night suffering from kidney stones and an intestinal blockage. Both are complications of dehydration. He told Helwani that “The weight was coming off fine and then yesterday my body just started to shut down Then yesterday my body just started to shut down. When it hit that point, I tried to push through it, and well, it didn’t go well because then I had to go to the ER.” He’s out of the hospital, but he said that he’s hurting bad and sore from it. The body hasn’t recovered from it yet, but maybe it will tomorrow.”
Woodley told Helwani “I’m counting this as a loss for him. You got to make the weight. I’m sitting here at weight, wired, ready to wage war and now I’m not going to get that opportunity.” However, he also noted that since he only gets show money wth no win money, it’s almost like he also lost himself. “I could have been knocked out in the first minute and just get show money. I hope and pray I am taken care of because I had a lot of plans for that win money.”
With the semi-main event out, every other fight on the card has been moved up a slot, with Ryan Bader vs. Rashad Evans as the new co-feature and Joseph Benavidez vs. Ali Bagautinov moved from featured prelim to main card opener. As for Hendricks, we have no way of knowing if the I.V. ban influenced his issues unless he says something about changing his weight cut.
