The plan is for the WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to be an annual event. There's been talk of having the finals of the tournament held at an annual Takeover event in conjunction with SummerSlam each year. The inaugural tournament was won by Samoa Joe and NXT Champion Finn Balor last year at "Takeover: Respect" in Florida. They defeated Rhyno and Baron Corbin in the finals.
