New Japan officially announced that Shinsuke Nakamura will be leaving the promotion as of January 31st and with this news he has also given up the IWGP Intercontinental belt.
Nakamura is still scheduled to compete on the upcoming "NJPW/CMLL FANTASTICA MANIA 2016" shows and then the two January shows for the "Road to THE NEW BEGINING" on January 29th and 30th. The show on the 30th featuring a special send-off match for Nakamura. A special press conference from Nakamura himself is scheduled for January 25th.
It was then announced that the next IWGP Intercontinental Champion will be decided on February 14th as Kenny Omega, the next contender by right after beating Nakamura on 1/5, will be taking on an opponent who will be determined in the near future.
