WrestleMania could be returning to Orlando, Florida in 2017. Heather Fagan, deputy chief of staff for Mayor Buddy Dyer, confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel that the city has submitted a formal bid to host WrestleMania 33.

“We have not received any notification and are waiting to hear just like other cities.”

While other cities such as Minneapolis, Minnesota have also expressed interest, Orlando is high WWE’s list in part due to the city being a tourism and entertainment hub. WWE has strong ties to the Orlando area, which houses the WWE Performance Center and Full Sail University, home of NXT .

Orlando hosted WrestleMania 24 back in 2008, which drew a stadium-record of 74,635 fans at the Citrus Bowl, which was recently renovated. A WWE study estimated its economic impact for Central Florida at $50 million.
