WWE announced on Wednesday night that New Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Shinsuke Nakamura is in fact joining the company soon after weeks of rumors and anticipation. Word broke in the first week of 2016 that several of NJPW’s top performers were jumping ship to WWE and WWE.com began running articles addressing the speculation. Now we know that he is headed to NXT.

A video package hyping Nakamura’s upcoming arrival aired at Wednesday’s NXT tapings from Full Sail University. WWE.com writes:

“Rumors of Nakamura coming to WWE first started in early January, along with gossip about AJ Styles and Bullet Club members Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows returning to America. Reports about Styles became truth during the 2016 Royal Rumble Match when The Phenomenal One entered at No. 3. Now, The King of Strong Style has decreed that he will be stepping between the yellow ropes in the not-so-distant future.”

Nakamura will be making his NXT in-ring debut at Takeover: Dallas during WrestleMania weekend.
