All Japan held a press conference for the 2016 Champion Carnival tournament which is set to begin tomorrow, 4/9 at Korakuen.
All 14 of the wrestlers involved attended the press in Tokyo as they all compete for a shot at the Triple Crown belt, or in the champions case to solidify his position. The PWF Chairman Dory Funk Jr., who has been in Japan for the last few weeks, kicked off the press as he looks forwards to everyone competing to win the league.
The A BLOCK will be garnering its fair share of attention with the Triple Crown Champion Kento Miyahara and the All Japan President Jun Akiyama leading the helm. The symbol of the "Strong Division of BJW" Daisuke Sekimoto will be making his return to the CC as he aims to show why he belongs here as this will be his first time in 4 years since he has competed in the league. His eyes are locked on making it to the final day when he takes on Miyahara. The other outside in Kengo Mashimo has stated his aspirations for a belt as well, either with a strong showing against Miyahara or even taking out Bodyguard, the two face on 4/16, and earning a shot at the World Tag belts. Super Tiger remains as a dark horse in the tournament given that he is skilled, but still unknown in what he can do in a repeated singles environment.
The B BLOCK will see the World Tag Champion Zeus and the veteran Takao Omori as the leaders for the All Japan side. Zeus specifically made it known that he aims to make it to the final and that he hopes that Akiyama, his striving goal, and to force the veteran to finally retire after he beats him. He also mentioned Sekimoto being a worthy opponent for him in the final as well, if he cannot have it the way that he desires. Ryoji Sai will be making his debut in the CC this year as the now freelance from ZERO1 wrestler aims to become a top wrestlers in Japan. The up and coming Hideyoshi Kamitani from BJW share strong similarities of wrestlers from the 90's All Japan as he mixes a style of one Kenta Kobashi and Toshiaki Kawada. Due to which he should garner a positive reaction from the fans in attendance. Then Atsushi Aoki will be vying to solidify his position as the junior trying to stand among the heavyweights.
