WWE tweeted a link (http://www.wwe.com/article/chyna-passes-away?sf24752024=1) to a statement about the passing of Joan “Chyna” Laurer on late Wednesday night.

“A physically striking and wildly talented performer, Chyna was a true sports-entertainment pioneer,” WWE’s statement reads. “Not only did the Superstar dubbed “The Ninth Wonder of the World” help found the groundbreaking faction D-Generation X, but she also holds the distinction of being the first and only female to win the Intercontinental Championship.” WWE included Stephanie McMahon’s tweet about the news in the article.

The City of Rendondo Beach Police Department has also issued a statement regarding the death of the former WWE Intercontinental Champion. They are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Laurer’s passing, which they confirm occurred on Wednesday night. You can see the Rendondo Beach police’s statement here:
