According to a report earlier today from CBS Los Angeles, the results of the autopsy in the death of Joanie “Chyna” Laurer may take longer to come back than originally expected. After some buzz that there would be results in the next day or so, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is now saying that the cause of death findings have been “deferred” pending additional investigation. That could mean a number of things, but since there was apparently no foul play involved, we can try to narrow it down. It’s not unusual for a coroner who can’t find a direct cause of death to hold off pending the results of toxicology and histology report. If this is a drug related death, and it does seem like that might be the case, then the toxicology could hold the key to the cause of death.
While there were pill bottles at the scene, the belief is that Laurer’s death was not a suicide, as the bottles were not emptied. Erik Aggra, who had been filming a documentary about her, told the Daily Mail Online that “She was having a tough time the past couple of weeks and we all knew that and she was using more of her prescriptions than she should have been or mixing them up – I can’t say for sure exactly what she was doing,.”
