The New Day opened WWE Payback tonight at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, with Xavier Woods inviting mayhem attempting to get Beyonce to slide up in his DMs. This led into the opening match of the pay-per-view, with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady taking on The Vaudevillains in the WWE Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contenders’ Tournament Final.
The match was moving along as normal when Simon Gotch threw Enzo Amore to the outside, or attempted to. Enzo went to go under the ropes and hit wrong. He bounced his head off the mat and the replay appeared to show that he was knocked out.
The referee checked on him and threw up the “X” sign, signifying a legitimate injury. They rang the bell and a stretcher was brought out. While it’s possible this was a work, it certainly looked like he was flash knocked out when they showed the slow motion replay and after they showed it, cameras cut to the announce table instead of showing medics tending to Amore as he was taken out on a stretcher.
Here is footage of the sequence, which WWE quickly posted on its Twitter account.

WWE subsequently released an injury update on Amore, stating on Twitter, “[Enzo Amore] being taken to local medical facility, is talking and moving extremities.”
