As noted earlier, AJ Styles is currently suffering from several nagging injuries and didn’t wrestle at this week’s SmackDown taping as a result. PWInsider now reports that AJ has been pulled from this weekend’s live events so he can try to heal up. WWE wants AJ to recover as much as he can before his May 22nd Extreme Rules match against Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Title.
Styles was originally scheduled to wrestle on Friday in Greenville, SC, Saturday in Raleigh, NC, and Sunday in Columbia, SC, but those plans have now reportedly changed. It’s unknown whether WWE intends to have Styles wrestle another singles match or not before the pay-per-view on the 22nd. There is one more episode each of RAW and SmackDown left before Extreme Rules.
AJ has back issues that flared up last year after working a busy independent schedule. He credits DDP Yoga with helping him rehabilitate his back.
