By now everyone has read the news regarding the sale of the UFC to new owners WME | IMG for $4 billion. Dana White, who will be staying on as UFC President for the new owners, and will still be as involved, if not more, than he has ever been in helping to grow the sport, spoke with ESPN on Monday about what the future of the sport holds following this shocking news.

For those worried about the future of the sport in the hands of the new owners, White, our longtime leader, told fans that they should not only not be worried, but they should be excited about this news.

“Exact opposite,” White said in an interview with ESPN regarding those who feel the story is a bad sign for the future of the sport. “Sport is going to the next level.”

In the official release issued on UFC.com this morning, White spoke more about why fans can rest assured that the sport is still in good hands.

“No other sport compares to UFC,” White said. “Our goal has always been to put on the biggest and the best fights for our fans, and to make this the biggest sport in the world. I’m looking forward to working with WME | IMG to continue to take this sport to the next level.”
