While WWE won’t medically clear him to wrestle, Daniel Bryan may be able to make big bucks wrestling elsewhere. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported on Daniel Bryan’s current contract status with WWE.

Now that Bryan is back to work for the company as the SmackDown General Manager, time on his contract is ticking, which means at some point he’ll be able to leave and work elsewhere. It’s very likely that Bryan would be paid more to wrestle main events for a company like NJPW than he would for his GM role on SmackDown. If he were to leave the company, he would also take home more money from his merchandise than the small percentage he gets from his official WWE merch.

Different doctors have reportedly given Bryan different answers as to whether he could wrestle again. Bryan is currently 35 years old, and most wrestlers compete well into their 40’s. Bryan announced his retirement in February after undergoing concussion testing.
