Sasha Banks’ promo on this week’s WWE RAW where she announced her return to the ring did not sit well with other talents backstage, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It sounds like the heat is on the company for scripting the promo, not The Boss herself.
There was a feeling backstage that the promo was in bad taste as they tried to play off the emotions of the Daniel Bryan retirement speech but ended up with a bad angle instead. One veteran talent mentioned the Edge retirement speech and Tyson Kidd being out of action for over a year as why the promo was in bad taste. Kidd and Bryan both are well liked within the company. The bottom line is that career ending injuries are a sensitive subject to friends of injured wrestlers.
There have also been comparisons to Mark Henry doing a similar promo but his was for a fake retirement angle, not a speech based on an injury.
