As previously noted, just days ago WWE officials were still unsure which “main event” would close tonight’s Hell In A Cell 2016 pay-per-view. A popular choice among fans for the final main event was the Cell match between Sasha Banks and Charlotte for the Women’s Championship, but it doesn’t look like that’ll be happening.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Women’s Title match was a popular choice for the final main event among many in the company — except for Vince McMahon. According to Meltzer, the WWE Chairman was cold on the idea of Banks and Charlotte closing out the show. WWE has been heavily promoting that this is the first time women will compete in the large Hell In A Cell cage.
For what it’s worth, Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte has the top billing on WWE.com‘s Hell In A Cell page. Hell In A Cell 2016 takes place tonight at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
