According to new reports, history will be made tonight in the main event at WWE Hell In A Cell 2016. Despite changing plans and conflicting reports throughout the week, it now appears that Sasha Banks and Charlotte are scheduled to be the final match of the night and close out the pay-per-view.
As previously noted, Dave Meltzer had reported on Wrestling Observer Radio this week that Vince McMahon was cold on the idea of Sasha Banks’ Women’s Title defense headlining the show and put a stop to it. New details emerged today and in a correction first reported by PWInsider.com, Banks and Charlotte are now penciled in as the last match for tonight. If no more changes are made to the order of the card, this will be the first time female wrestlers truly headline a WWE pay-per-view.
For what it’s worth, Meltzer had also reported this week that Triple H was among several WWE staffers who wanted Banks and Charlotte to go on last. There’s no word on what caused Vince to change his mind on the issue, but it’s possible that the WWE Chairman was convinced by his son-in-law.
