On Wednesday morning, the Hartford Courant reported that McMahon was one of the four meetings that Trump had scheduled for the day. Previous reports had suggested she was in line to be the Trump administration’s Secretary of Commerce only for her to seemingly be passed over for billionaire investor Wilbur Ross.
McMahon unsuccessfully ran for both of Connecticut’s United States Senate seats in back to back elections in 2010 and 2012, spending almost $100 million in the process. While initially, she positioned herself as anti-Trump in the media, she eventually had a change of heart, donating several million dollars to a pro-Trump PAC and serving as one of his delegates at the Republican National Convention. As for whatever position she could be appointed to, she has specifically said that she is not interested in an ambassadorship.
