Following up on the story that WWE was moving forward with efforts to add content from various top independent promotions to the WWE Network, Vince McMahon has reportedly changed his mind.
After strong start by competing streaming service FloSlam and an need to build the WWE Network subscriber count, live events from hot indies seems like a viable option. The Wrestling Observer reports that some behind-the-scenes talks are ongoing with the hope that Vince could change his mind again at some point.
WWE recently ran Fan Council surveys mentioning various independent groups and the results indicated strong interest. However, there was also a feeling that the interest wasn’t strong enough to warrant the additional costs. As noted earlier this week, WWE is considering taking NXT television live each week, but the same cost/benefit considerations will be employed before any decisions are made.
