Bray Wyatt defied the odds this past weekend at Elimination Chamber and captured his first WWE Championship. In doing so, he ended John Cena’s historic reign. The 16-time champion had a chance to make history once again on SmackDown Live in a triple threat title match also involving AJ Styles. Unfortunately, he came up short and Wyatt retained by pinning Cena. According to WWE legend Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, John Cena personally insisted on putting Bray Wyatt over on SmackDown.
Waltman was backstage at Tuesday’s SmackDown from Anaheim, California and said:
“I’m not sure what the finish was supposed to be for the match last night. But I know this for a fact, that John Cena insisted on putting Bray Wyatt over again last night, insisted on it. That’s not just a rumor.”
