WWE’s long-rumored women’s tournament is moving forward and will kick off before the summer, according to f4wonline. WWE struck gold last summer with the Cruiserweight Classic tournament, which led to the launch of 205 Live on the WWE Network. They saw additional success with the European Championship tournament, with news breaking this week that WWE’s “European division” running its first live events this May from Nowich, England.

The report at f4wonline states that tapings for the yet-to-be-named Women’s tournament are scheduled for mid-May. Like the Cruiserweight and UK tournaments, the Women’s show will also air exclusively on the WWE Network.

Over the past several months, WWE has signed many talented female competitors, including Heidi Lovelace, Kimber Lee, Andrea, and Mary Dobson.

After WrestleMania, another batch of women’s wrestlers will be reporting to the WWE Performance Center. According to Squared Circle Sirens, that group will include Isabel Lahela, Evie, Nixon Newell and Demi Bennett. We noted earlier this week that Japanese standout Kairi Hojo has also signed with WWE.

With competition heating up from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor, the UK independent scene and even Impact Wrestling forging alliances in Japan and England, it’s clear that WWE is taking talent acquisition seriously and does not want to be caught flat-footed by missing out on signing the next Charlotte or Sasha Banks.
