NXT star Tommaso Ciampa is currently in Birmingham, Alabama to undergo ACL surgery later this week. We won’t know the full extent of his injury until after the knee surgery, but the typical recovery time for this procedure is six to nine months.
Ciampa was injured at an NXT live event just days before Takeover: Chicago during a tag team match against Sanity, as seen below.

After Ciampa’s stunning attack on Johnny Gargano at the conclusion of NXT Takeover: Chicago last weekend, many fans were hoping for the former DIY tag team partners to settle their differences at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn during SummerSlam weekend in August. An in-ring return less than three months from now seems overly ambitious.
