Hart-felt Book Anticipated

Bret Hart is a busy guy. The former pro-wrestling star was in Calgary this week to do interviews for his November family musical Aladdin, in which he plays the Genie of the Lamp.

Fans of the Hitman will be excited to find out the former pro-wrestling star has also penned a book.

Hart had been working on his book for years and he says it was like getting rid of the gorilla on his back.

He started writing his story just before his brother Owen's death in 1999.

"My life has had so many twists and turns that it posed a real challenge to put them all down," Hart told the Calgary Sun.

"It became my labour of love to squeeze it all out of me. It was part creativity and part therapy."

Hart says the finished book begins with the death of his father, the legendary Stu Hart, and comes full circle ending with this father's death.

The book eventually came out to be 1,026 pages long. The publisher has a team of editors working on the book to cut it down to 500 pages.

Hart says he hopes the book will hit the shelves in the new year.

"Probably February," he says. "The one thing I don't have yet is a title."

Aladdin has a cross-country run:

Vancouver, BC., Nov. 7 - 12
Edmonton, AB., Nov. 14 - 19
Regina, SK., Nov. 21 - 23
Saskatoon, SK., Nov. 24 - 26
Calgary, AB., Nov. 28 - Dec. 3
Toronto, ON., Dec. 6 - 24
Ottawa, ON., Dec. 26 - 31
