RECAP OF WWE CHAMPION JOHN CENA'S APPEARANCE ON LIVE WITH REGIS AND KELLY
John Cena joined Regis and guest host Joy Philbin to talk about a variety of things, but mainly to promote the release of "The Marine."
They started with Regis mentioning that Cena had recently regained the WWE Championship, and then they showed clips from Raw. Cena came out wearing a T-Shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers, no baseball cap though. The audience cheered.
Cena let Regis hold the belt. Regis asked, "Are you Hulk Hogan?" Cena in his best Hulk Hogan voice responded, "Yes, brother." That was funny.
Regis asked if making a movie was any different than being in a wrestling ring. Cena explained that most of it has to do with emotion. When you are in front of 20,000 people and wrestling on live TV the emotion just comes natural. However, in the movies, it's like you are in a box, and you have to recreate the emotion over and over again.
Regis asked if one day Cena might do more movies should "The Marine" be successful. Cena's response was "We'll see." Regis asked if he would leave the belt behind, Cena said no, and added that he might one day pose on top of the Hollywood sign with it.
Joy asked why he doesn't have that many scars. Cena confessed that he really doesn't get beat up alot. He then jokingly told her, "I beat the other guys up."
Joy mentioned that Cena grew up as one of five boys, and said that must have been tough on his mother. Cena said he used to take many beatdowns back then. He thanked his parents, particularly his mom for giving him the drive to be the WWE Champion.
Regis asked John about when he used to play football. Cena said he played on the offensive line. He referred to himself as "the skinny, fat kid." Joy brought up about how muscular Cena is now. Cena pulled back his shirt sleeve, and flexed his right arm. The ladies in the audience squealed with delight.
Commercial break.
They came back and showed a clip from "The Marine." It was a scene where he's chasing the bad guys right after they kidnapped his wife.
Regis asked Cena to demonstrate his finishing move on Gelman (the show's stage manager). It was never referred to by name as the FU. Cena lifted Gelman up on his shoulders, and walked over to the camera to remind the audience that "The Marine" hits the theaters this Friday. He then set Gelman back down rather than completing the move.
It was a good appearance for Cena. He come off as really laid back and easy going with a good sense of humor. Regis has always been good to the wrestlers whenever they appear on the show.
