It appears the WWE is looking to introduce some new gold to 205 Live. WWE officials are planning to introduce Cruiserweight tag team titles, according to a report at PWinsider. The new belts are expected to be introduced after WrestleMania. WCW created Cruiserweight tag titles prior to going out of business in 2001, so WWE is looking to rewrite history in that respect.
Since reports surfaced of Triple H taking over the brand, 205 Live has undergone some significant changes. With Drake Maverick serving as the brand’s general manager, his role on shows has been to clean up the goofy backstage banter and get back to wrestling.
Cruiserweights are currently fighting to remain in a tournament that will determine a new champion. The finals will take place at WrestleMania.
There has been a bevy of talents that have been considered to be poorly utilized or don’t even show up at all. The addition of tag team titles could bring new life into these superstars.
